Is it possible to be a dedicated homeschooling mom while still making time for myself as an individual (a girlie girl who likes cute shoes)? I like to think so. Follow along, and I'll let you know for sure.

Trust me . . . it's not ALL about the shoes.

United States Resource Box

Our United States Resource Box arrived from Lakeshore Learning quite literally as we were walking out the door for our trip to South Carolina. It was pure torture knowing it was here but I couldn't dive into it!

Needless to say, we cracked it open as soon as we got home, and it's been a wonderful tool in kicking off our USA unit study. Contents include:
  • One original US flag, and one current US flag
  • Statue of Liberty model
  • Liberty Bell model
  • Voting box
  • 10 cards with pictures and facts about US landmarks
  • 6 activity cards with writing activities
  • 10 reading comprehension activities covering the flag, the Constitution, the voting process and government structure.
  • An activity book with puzzles, science experiments, writing prompts, art projects, graphing activities and more.
Along with this box, we also ordered the United States Literature Library, which has been a wonderful addition to our reading time. We've already tackled the three shorter books (George Washington, F is for Flag and Betsy Ross) and are working our way through A More Perfect Union: The Story of the Constitution before moving on to The Story of the Statue of Liberty.

Both resources have been a wonderful addition to our classroom and have helped spark Noah's interest in learning more about our country!
