Is it possible to be a dedicated homeschooling mom while still making time for myself as an individual (a girlie girl who likes cute shoes)? I like to think so. Follow along, and I'll let you know for sure.

Trust me . . . it's not ALL about the shoes.

Styrofoam Recycling at Central Florida Zoo

We've been hearing a lot about the Styrofoam recycling program at the Central Florida Zoo, and we've anxiously been saving our Styrofoam for the past few months. Today, we made our first trip up there to deliver it and were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to drop off. A company called Blue Earth Solutions, based in Clermont, FL, has developed a cost-effective, environmentally-friendly way to recycle Styrofoam - and their collection point at the zoo makes it easy to drop it off.

I had read that the collection point was near the zoo entrance, which brought to mind visions of myself juggling two kids and three boxes of Styrofoam for a somewhat long walk. Happily, we arrived to find that the bin is actually at a separate recycling station located on the drive into the zoo. We were able to pull right up to the bin, and the kids enjoyed unloading our boxes.

Just a note - they ask that only clean Styrofoam be desposited, so be sure to rinse out your containers before taking them.

  1. Thank you for these blog! Styrofoam is commonly used as a packaging material and I deal with it all the time at work. I find several good machines to deal with this kind of waste plastic in GREENMAX recycling. The company has the polystyrene compactor and melter, and here is the website
