We've been hearing a lot about the Styrofoam recycling program at the Central Florida Zoo, and we've anxiously been saving our Styrofoam for the past few months. Today, we made our first trip up there to deliver it and were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to drop off. A company called Blue Earth Solutions, based in Clermont, FL, has developed a cost-effective, environmentally-friendly way to recycle Styrofoam - and their collection point at the zoo makes it easy to drop it off.
I had read that the collection point was near the zoo entrance, which brought to mind visions of myself juggling two kids and three boxes of Styrofoam for a somewhat long walk. Happily, we arrived to find that the bin is actually at a separate recycling station located on the drive into the zoo. We were able to pull right up to the bin, and the kids enjoyed unloading our boxes.
Just a note - they ask that only clean Styrofoam be desposited, so be sure to rinse out your containers before taking them.
