Is it possible to be a dedicated homeschooling mom while still making time for myself as an individual (a girlie girl who likes cute shoes)? I like to think so. Follow along, and I'll let you know for sure.

Trust me . . . it's not ALL about the shoes.

The Tortoise and the Hare

Today we joined some friends from SLC at the Helen Stairs Theater in Sanford to see a production of The Tortoise and the Hare. Both kids really enjoyed the show, and I'm always amazed that Ava can sit through a theater production at her age (2). She is definitely a theater fan, sitting on the edge of her seat and clapping enthusiastically at every opportunity.

Noah has shown some interest in acting, so we try to get to the theater whenever we can. We are very fortunate to have several local theaters that offer productions just for kids, and the Orlando Ballet has even started offering one-hour family performances of it's popular shows (so far we've seen The Nutcracker and The Little Mermaid, and we're looking forward to Cindarella in October).

This was our second time at the Helen Stairs; we saw Curious George there earlier in the year and just learned that Seussical Jr. is coming in June. Today, we also found out about a great field trip program at the Orlando Rep, so we'll definitely check their lineup for next season.

After the show, the actors answered questions from the stage, then waiting in the lobby to meet all the kids on their way out. Ava was thrilled to have her picture taken with Bunni Hare, while Noah chatted up Thomas Tortoise.
